Indian Players in Big Bash League.
A couple of years back, the above phrase sounded impossible as it is a well known fact that BCCI doesn't allow contracted players to participate in overseas franchise leagues. But with passing time it seems that the BCCI has grown a bit lenient from its stand.
In the year 2021, we will see as many as 9 Indian players take part in Big Bash League. The BCCI has allowed 8 cricketers of the Women's Cricket Team to take part in WBBL 07. Notably, BCCI also allowed the eves to take part in the inaugural edition of the Women's Hundred earlier this year.
Here are the list of players who will take part in the 7th edition of Women Big Bash League.
•Sydney Sixers have roped in the services of opener Shefali Verma and Radha Yadav for WBBL 07.
• Star batter Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma will appear for Sydney Thunders.
•The Melbourne Renegades are too not left behind as they have signed the duo of Jemmimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur for the upcoming season.
• Hobart Hurricanes have signed keeper batswoman Richa Ghosh for the season.
•Poonam Yadav will be seen playing for Brisbane Heat in WBBL 07.
Notably, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Veda Krishnamurthy also featured in the draft of WBBL 06.
Now coming to the male counterparts there is also an Indian male player who will be seen plying his trade in the Big Bash League. He is none other than Former Indian U19 World Cup winning captain- Unmukt Chand.
Unmukt recently retired from all forms of cricket in India and has moved to USA to prolong his career.
He has signed up as the overseas recruit for the Melbourne Renegades making him the first Indian player to do so.
With franchise based cricket bound to grow in recent years the time is not far when we might end up seeing even the Indian regulars plying their trades in Australia.
