*THE HUNDRED MENS COMPETITION- THE NORTHERN SUPERCHARGERS VS WELSH FIRE MATCH 30 2023: PREVIEW*
*THE BUILD UP:*
Four losses on the trot, not impressing and they have been handed over the Elimination. The story of the Superchargers was one of vigour and promise but they failed to make it count despite 2 wins in three games.
How they crumbled under pressure while chasing 164 was miraculous. Getting dismissed for a mere 83 with Adam Hose top scoring with a 15 off 6 highlights the mediocrity of their campaign and as they clash with the Welsh Fire tomorrow, all they would search for is a consolidating win- one which gives them the right consolation.
The Welsh Fire have enjoyed a mixed season so far. They have had their fair share of upsetting moments but have won some key games as well. Losing three and winning three gives a good glimpse into how balanced their journey has been, this season. After two back to back losses, they surged back to form with a 6 wicket win and they would only look to keep this run going as they take on an already eliminated and depleted Superchargers.
*NORTHERN SUPERCHARGERS PROBABLE XI:*
Adam Lyth, Matthew Short, Tom Banton (wk), Harry Brook, Adam Hose, David Wiese, Brydon Carse, Wayne Parnell (c), Adil Rashid, Callum Parkinson, Reece Topley
David Weise is all quality with his set of skills and his allround abilities and the South African born would be raring to prove himself and make a mark after an otherwise below average campaign of sorts for him personally. We could see the all rounder come hard at the Fire and use his years of experience in short forms of cricket.
Captain Parnell would like to finish on a high and sign off with some dignity as they would adore spoiling the party of the Welsh Fire. His angle vs the likes of Bairstow and Clarke could decide the fate of this game.
*THE WELSH FIRE PROBABLE XI:*
Stephen Eskinazi, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Clarke (wk), Luke Wells, Tom Abell (c), Glenn Phillips, David Willey, Roelof van der Merwe, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, David Payne
Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson started in some fashion, an emphatic one if our blatantly. The Kiwi duo did not let the Fire feel the absence of their Pakistani pace power Shaheen and Rauf as the two struck twice and leaked just 40 off their collective 40 balls, marking a fantastic sign of excellence and growth. They would be hoping to continue the groove that they were in and make a point even tomorrow as they clash against the Northern Superchargers. Looking forward to watching Lockie against the sensation that Brook is. How he handles dangerous pace on a lively surface should be a fascinating watch, at best.
The Fire would have wanted to chase 110 with ease and without much hiccups and even though they lost just four wickets, it was the manner in which they played with Bairstow leading a slow counter attack, that would have hurt them bigtime. An improvement would be the need of the hour as the Welsh Fire look to get their reputation out of this middle muddle.
