Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans (7th match of PSL 2021)

  1. Current Performance: Lahore Qalandars has a dream start in this season with two back to back wins while chasing the total. Two of their star batters Fakar Zaman & M.Hafeez have looked in good touch. It will be interesting to see how the middle order shapes in when these two falls early. Their pace department looks solid with the likes of Saheen Afridi & Haris Rauf in the mix. Ahmed Daniyal also impressed in his two outings & David Wisse is more than handy with his slower variations. However as Rashid Khan leaves for international duty, their spin department will be shaken. This means that Hafeez & Agha Salman may bowl more & Samit Patel might get some overs too. Mazz Khan is also there as a spin option if the management wishes to utilize him.

Multan Sultans has a bad start to the tournament with back to back loses as they failed to defend their total in both the matches. Mohammad Rizwan & James Vince is in good form with the bat. Chris Lynn is not firing with the bat which is affecting his team much. Rossouw Maqsood & Khusdil Shah have also done not much with the bat. Shahin Afridi & Usman Qadir have the responsibility of the spin department. Sohail Tanvir & Sohaibullah are the left arm pacers & Sahnwaz Dhani, Carlos Brathwaite, Mohammad umar are the right arm pace options for the team. On paper the pace department looks a little thin. So if this team are to do well in this competition, their bowlers need to step up their wicket taking abilities a notch & their batters need to be awesome with the bat in hand.

  • Due to Rashid Khan’s unavailability, Hafeez, Agha Salman or Samit Patel may bowl some more overs. This increases their fantasy value.
  • Recent form wise Lahore Qalandars are favourites to win this match. But Rashid’s unavailability might prove fruitful for the opposition team in the middle overs. If the  Multan Sultans team can get their act together, they may win their first match of this tournament. Do make grand leagues team considering this.
