3rd ODI

Teams: Srilanka vs Bangladesh.

Venue: Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

Time: 1:00 pm IST.

Preview:

With the series done and dusted, the match is a dead rubber but Srilanka would somehow want to salvage their pride by winning this match. On the other hand, the rampant Bangladesh team would love to continue their unbeaten streak in ICC CWC Super League. Remember they are on top of the league standings and would love to complete a white-wash to celebrate the fact.

Pitch Report:

As the 3rd match will be played on the same pitch, it will somehow follow the similar trend. The pitch tends to get slower with time and the extra pace offered by the bowlers helped the batsmen to play their shots. The spinners would be again be effective as the pitch would play comparatively slower unless a fresh strip is provided. Also, there was very less dew in the second innings of the match thus allowing the spinners to bowl well. With spinners scalping as many as 18 wickets in the 2 ODIs expect this match to be a spin fest too.

Weather Report:

The cyclone may have subsided but the rain gods haven’t. Expect rain to play the spoilsport again in this match.

Common players based on ground and H2H Records:

BAN: Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (Batting 1st), Mehidy Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman.

SL: Gunathalika, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sandakan, Chameera.

Key Observations from 2nd Match:

1. There was initial movement for seamers. However excess pace helped the batsmen to play their shots.

2. Spinners found it easy to bowl in both the innings as the pitch provided a bit of turn and was slow. Also, no dew in 2nd innings allowed the Bangladeshi bowlers to execute their plans well.

3. Chameera was quick and effective so was Sandakan. Even Shoriful Islam troubled the Srilankan batsmen with his height and length. Mehidy Hasan was the pick of the bowlers though.

4. Mushfiqur Rahim has been so far the most consistent batsman from both the teams. It would be interesting to see whether the law of averages catches him up or not.

5. The pitch went slower with the passage of play and as there was no dew the spinners came into play. Also, the bowlers who could bowl the cutters were found effective.

6. Gunathalika looked good before throwing away his wicket. He may score big tomorrow.

7. Shakib has been unlucky with the bat in both the ODIs, so he might score a match defining knock in this game.

Bowlers used at opening spells and death:

Srilanka:

Opening Spell: Udana (for swing), Chameera (for pace).

Death: Udana (for cutters), Chameera.

Bangladesh:

Opening Spell: Taskin (Pace), Mehidy Hasan (2 LHB were openers).

Death: Mustafizur (Change ups and cutters), Shoriful Islam.

Predicted Playing XIs:

Bangladesh

Tamim Iqbal (C), Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (Wk), Mosaddek Hossain, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehedy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman,Taskin Ahmed.

With Saifuddin being hit on the helmet and concussed out expect Taskin Ahmed to play this game. Liton Das too may be dropped after 2 disappointing outings and may be replaced Mohammad Naim who has been added to the squad.

Sri Lanka

Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera (C&Wk), Pathum Nissanka Kusal Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Wanindu Hasaranga, Isuru Udana, Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan.

(Ashean Bandara looked like a fish out of order in both the ODIs and may be replaced by Niroshan Dickwella who had a good practice match and can add to their batting depth. Ramesh Mendis is another option who can get a nod.)

My Fantasy Team:

Wk: Kusal Parera, Mushfiqur Rahim (Batting 1st)

Batsmen:  Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah.

All-rounders: Shakib-al-Hasan (Must pick), Wanindu Hasaranga, Dhananjaya de Silva.

Bowlers: Mustafizur Rahman Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan.

Safe C/Vc: Shakib, Tamim Iqbal, Kusal Perera, Mushfiqur Rahim.

Differential C/Vc:  Mustafizur Rahman, Gunathalika, Hasaranga, Dhanajaya de Silva.

Risky Picks:   Afif Hossain (If you are missing 2-3 players from top), Liton Das.

GL Tip: Shakib is due for a big knock whereas Mushfiqur Rahim is on the verge of the Law of Averages. If both these probabilities kick off then this match would great for GL.

(Disclaimer: The above team given is a safe team with a few risky choices. As it is the last match of the series, I will be taking risks. So do follow your own instincts backed by this analysis and the video in Fantasy Arena backup Youtube Channel.)
